Objective

The 21st century CFO is hearing the new calling from the corporate boardroom - “Step out and go beyond the box”. Long gone are the days where the CFO is primarily focused in the traditional box of command and control, financial and management reporting. While Fortune 500 firms can afford the luxury of “silo” management, many enterprises now require CFOs to not only understand and appreciate non-financial parts of their business, some are entrusting the CFO with the key responsibilities of information management and corporate strategy and be a trusted advisor to the Board. They are also looking to their CFOs to be the future CEOs.

The CFO as Navigator program is designed to provide you with a highly applied and interactive experience and will cover areas such as corporate and acquisition strategy, value metrics, best in class management reporting platform, enterprise dashboards, performance metrics and strategy maps, information management and business intelligence, corporate planning platform design and creation, talent management and incentive design.

This program is designed to make you a complete CFO and be ready to become the next CEO. It is not meant to convert you into the VP-Human Resources, Chief Information Officer or VP- Marketing, but to provide you with enough depth to either manage these functions and/or to communicate effectively to these counterparts with knowledge and confidence. If you want to “step out of the box and be ready to climb up the ladder” - this program will show you “the what and the how”.

Who Should Attend

Are you curious about understanding and driving key business metrics in your enterprise? Do you wish to appreciate the roles of HR and CIO in your organization and add value? Are you interested in improving your knowledge about these two functions?  Are you involved in strategy development and concerned about its successful execution? Do you provide the Board and external shareholders/stakeholders with business performance and KPI analysis?  

Are you considering (or looking) for a CEO position and feel that you only know finance/accounting but need a broader knowledge base? Do you feel uncomfortable in communicating with your IT department? Are you interested in learning about new tools and methods to add value to your enterprise? Do you want to go beyond the stovepipe finance function? Do you have a desire to do more and be a complete CFO? If so, then this program is for you.

This program is geared particularly towards those in mid-cap, for-profit companies who have a responsibility to manage multiple functions in an organization.

The Curriculum

Over the course of three highly interactive and hands on days with cases and real life examples, you will develop, refine and gain insights into many interrelated areas including

• Value Creation and the Role of Strategy

• Designing a Product - Client Profitability Platform

• Building Enterprise Dashboards

• The Elusive Business Intelligence - Getting Out of Excel Hell

• Understanding CIO/CTO and Techno-speak

• Managing Human Capital

The Program & Fees

This is an in-residence program, and participants are strongly encouraged to stay on-site at the program facility in Whistler for the duration. The program cost includes course materials and some meals. We will make any accommodation reservations on your behalf - but please note that room accommodation costs are separate.

The program fee is $2,800 plus 12% HST. An Early Bird discounted fee of $2,500 plus 12% HST will apply for registrations received before May 14, 2012.

Faculty

Dr. Vijay Jog is the Founder - President of Corporate Renaissance Group, a firm dedicated to driving better business management and performance. He is also the Chancellor Professor at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. His consulting career is global and spans over twenty five years. His clients include almost every major federal government department and many other public and private sector organizations in Canada, U.S., U.K., Netherlands, South Africa, Middle East, Namibia, Barbados, Trinidad, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Austria, and India including some of the world's largest corporations.
